TeamSafe - The Team Psychological Safety Measurement Tool

The experimental version

Welcome to TeamSafe – Your Tool for Measuring Psychological Safety in Teams

TeamSafe is a psychometric tool in its experimental phase designed to measure psychological safety in teams. Psychological safety, as defined by Harvard Business School professor Amy Edmondson, is a shared belief among team members that the team is a safe space for taking interpersonal risks. In practice, this means team members feel free to ask questions, share ideas, admit mistakes, and express differing opinions without fear of negative consequences or rejection. It’s a climate of trust, respect, and openness that encourages honesty, learning and collaboration.

We invite you to participate in the questionnaire. Your participation will help us improve TeamSafe and finalize a tool that supports well-being and collaboration in hybrid teams across Europe. All answers you provide are completely anonymous. For the purpose of standardization, we may collect some demographic information, but your individual responses will never be visible to your manager or anyone else. The estimated time to complete the questionnaire is 25-30 minutes.

About the Online Tool

TeamSafe was developed by experts in psychology and human resource management from Poland, Cyprus, Spain, and Italy as part of the Erasmus+ project “Healthy and productive hybrid workplace environment in small and medium-sized enterprises – well-beINTeam”. This initiative is coordinated by OIC POLAND Foundation of WSEI University, in cooperation with EUROSUCCESS CONSULTING (Cyprus), Macrix (Poland), Wyde (Italy), and SMARTUP (Spain).

Your answers will help us refine the tool so that it can effectively support well-being and collaboration in hybrid and dispersed teams across Europe.

The five dimensions of Psychological Safety

TeamSafe measures five dimensions, plus the overall level of psychological safety:

  • Honesty – Sharing your views, opinions, and ideas openly. Team members feel safe to speak up without fear of negative consequences.
  • Giving Constructive Feedback – Providing information focused on tasks, not individuals, with empathy and inclusivity, encouraging open dialogue across all roles and hierarchies.
  • Making Mistakes / Failing Wisely – Seeing mistakes as learning opportunities rather than failures to blame. Teams embrace experimentation and trust that everyone acts in good faith.
  • Open Communication and Transparency – Ensuring clear rules, access to information, and transparent decisions so team members understand the “why” behind actions and feel included.
  • Productive Conflict – Addressing differences and misunderstandings openly, discussing tasks and responsibilities, and using conflict as a way to reach better solutions.
  • Overall Psychological Safety – This captures the shared belief that the team is a safe space for interpersonal risk-taking. While often taken for granted, it is crucial for trust, collaboration, and innovation.

How TeamSafe can be used

  1. For Individuals:

If you work in a small or medium-sized company that operates in a hybrid or distributed mode, you can complete the questionnaire to assess the level of psychological safety in your team. Whether you are a team member or a manager, the final version of the tool will provide you with your overall level of psychological safety in your team and detailed results for each dimension of psychological safety.

  2. For Teams:

If you are a manager, you can invite your team members to complete the questionnaire. The final version of the tool will generate:

    • A team report showing the overall psychological safety of the whole team and detailed results for each dimension
    • Individual reports for each team member (accessible only to them)
    • Your own individual report on your psychological safety.

Important: Individual responses remain anonymous. Managers cannot see who answered or the content of any individual’s responses.
